The Jewel Curse Continues

When Kingdoms of Camelot first introduced the Jewel to the Throne Room, I had mixed feelings. I was excited that there was a method of growing my Throne Room is a quick manner, and it seemed that it favored the attacker based on the jewels that were being found in wilds/barb camps. I was worried about the new addition because, as with so many additions to the game, there was the possibility of additional glitches caused by these new items.

I have already written about how on some occasions is seemed like the Jewels were not being counted in battle for defenders. Many of my alliance mates have confirmed this has happened, but it seems to work sometimes as well.

But then I had a little luck in buying some boxes from the store using saved up gems from watching videos. I was awarded a few Cloudy Attack Debuff Jewels. Excited about these jewels I equipped them to a few of the cards in my TR giving me an additional 2,000 attack debuff.

That day I got into a battle with a member of a hostile alliance who is rather nice and we allways talk about the battles we have to learn from each other.

I sent a mixed wave at him. It landed with my ranged attack debuff totaling just a little over 8,000 and his ranged attack totaling just over 6,500. Seeing the TRs used, and the fact that I had siege walls included in my march, I was confident I had a total victory with very few losses.

I opened the report and found complete loss, not a single troop lived and all of his troops survived. I studied the report and found that his Flame Archers had over 33,000 attack. That is max for the TR he was using, when they should have been debuffed down to base.

Lesson learned: JEWELS ARE GLITCHED ON BOTH SIDES OF BATTLE!!!!

Jewels Fixed

So after a few weeks of jewels not working at all, it seems Kingdoms of Camelot has fixed the issues they were having!  The fix was implemented about a week ago, but I didnt want to declare them fixed until I have had ample time to test them!

Jewels for Sale

Just about every day there are boxes to be found in the shop that hold cloudy jewels.  They pretty much run the range of what is available on any card, with a few exceptions.

My Thoughts on Saboteur

Kingdoms of Camelot has introduced yet another new troop, the Saboteur.  Here is their description:

“These cunning troops specialize in disabling siege weapons, but cannot fight toe-to-toe with most combat troops.”

sab-drawingAnd here are the stats:

  • Attack:  1100
  • Defense:  15
  • Life:  550
  • Speed: 245
  • Range:  75
  • Load:  15

Judging by its description and its stats it looks like the Saboteur will be the infantry version of the Hussar.  It sounds like this troop type will have very high accuracy against Siege troops and very low against all others, while all troops except siege will have high accuracy against Saboteurs (siege may have a VERY low to non-existent accuracy against them)

Potential Saboteur Strategies

I can foresee a few potential strategies for Saboteurs, and they are:

  • Used to kill siege that have extremely high range and attack stats (when defender is using only siege)
  • Used as part of a mixed wave, protected by other troops

New Unique Throne Room Card

Kingdoms of Camelot has introduced their newest Unique Throne Room Card:

Hywelbane’s Plaque

Card Review:

So far (June 14th, 2014) this card has only been available in Merlins Gone wild (it was introduced today).  I find the card to be pretty much useless.  Any bonus to wall and field defenses is very easily countered and is a waste of space in a TR.  Do not spend money in an attempt to acquire this card!

According to Kingdoms of Camelot:
“You demanded it and we heard you! We have added 16% more Dark Forests to the maps of Camelot! This will help alleviate the problem players were seeing with not enough Forests to attack after the domain merges. Thank you for your feedback and please continue to bring us more of your ideas in our official forums.
Thanks for playing Kingdoms of Camelot!

7/31 – Patch Notes

Lords and Ladies of Camelot,

A new patch has gone LIVE today in Kingdoms of Camelot. Here is what you can find in this update!

Ghost Reports – There was an issue where the player Messages box would state that there were more reports than it actually did. This issue has been fixed. Players should be able to enter their Inboxes and see an accurate readout of how many pages of messages they have.

Boots – Stay on your feet! There is a new Slot available in the Champion Hall. Your Champions can now be empowered further by equipping Boots, found in Wilds, Barbarian Camps, Dark Forests, and in PvP battles.

Daily Bonus Revamp – Players will now receive even better bonuses for returning to their kingdoms every day. Return every day to get more resources, upgrade items, and even packs of Rare troops, along with some of the better items and boosts from the old rewards.

Dark Forests 11-15 – The cryptic forces of the Dark Forests have been emboldened by the Barbarians’ upgrades so they have strengthened their own ranks with Dark Forests levels 11 through 15 to provide a new challenge for the mightiest of Lords and Ladies. Drive back the threats to Camelot to receive better item drop rates, more Gold, and more Aetherstone. As a reward for the bravest of warriors, players now have a chance to find Cloudy Jewels secreted away in the depths of Dark Forests levels 14 and 15. The higher level Dark Forests have new icons, so they should be easy to spot on the map to either attack or stay clear of their dangers.

Work has had me running all over the world for the last few months and my hobbies have suffered. My KOC play slowed down and this website basically went dormant. That will no longer be the case! I am back and will be updating the site at least 3 times a week (filling in gaps in content and posting new content). If there is anything you would like to see on the site, contact me on Twitter @KocCodex!

Pillars Have Lower General Stats

Pillars have been around Kingdoms of Camelot now for a few weeks and one thing that is clear about them, is they are heavily weighting to Spellcaster type troops.  The general stats found on the Pillars are lower than on most other cards.  Here is an example:

attack-debuff-pillar

Most other cards, at level 17, would have 790% attack debuff on line 5.  Here we have a pillar that has 469% attack debuff at level 17 on line 5.  Most other general attributes are the same (Defense debuff and Range Debuff are also found on pillars).

For me, the jury is still out on spellcaster troops and as such, it is still out on pillars as well!

Patch Notes: 12/12 Defensive Tower

Lords and Ladies of Camelot,

A new patch has gone LIVE in Kingdoms of Camelot. Here is what you can find in this update!

Introducing the Defensive Tower!

Camelot’s architects have finished research on the latest in castle defense. You can now build a Defensive Tower through each city’s Wall! Once constructed, the Tower will participate in battles where you are attacked, even if your troops are set to Hide. The Tower does not take up spaces on the wall and does not require resources as Upkeep. If the Tower is destroyed in battle, your citizens will automatically repair it once the battle ends. The Tower does not participate in Scouting marches and it cannot defend your city if the Tower is being upgraded. Armor Plating to further upgrade your Defensive Tower will be released soon!

The Tower does not receive boosts from the existing Throne Room buffs, to ensure that everybody starts with a level playing field and no player immediately has an advantage. The only Throne Room buffs that will boost the Tower’s stats are the Tower specific buffs that can be found in Jewels (found in Dark Forests, Wilds, and PvP combat) and in future Throne Room items. The Tower has its own stat caps to reflect the difference in your mighty defenses compared to a single troop. Its Accuracy can be raised significantly higher than your troops.

The Tower does not receive boosts from your Champion but also cannot be debuffed by your opponent’s Champion. Just like most of your buildings, the Tower will be deconstructed when you Ascend your cities.

Thanks for playing Kingdoms of Camelot and we hope you enjoy this update!

Rock You Transition

So as most know, Kabam has turned control of Kingdoms of Camelot over to Rock You, and the transition has been a little bit rocky.

There have been many new glitches to add on top of the existing ones, tons of lock outs and random oddities.

There is still hope that having new blood running the game can revive it, but that hope is not strong at the moment.

More updates to come!
